Cinemas in the Sand returns with ’90s classic

Updated: Apr 10

Cinemas in the Sand brings free movies under the stars back to Pensacola Beach on Friday, April 11, with the 1998 family favorite “The Parent Trap.”

The romantic comedy, a remake of the 1961 original, stars Lindsay Lohan in her breakout dual role as twin sisters Hallie and Annie. Separated at birth and raised on opposite sides of the Atlantic, the girls unexpectedly meet at summer camp and concoct a plan to reunite their estranged parents, played by Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson.

The movie is packed with heartwarming moments, laugh-out-loud scenes and a clever storyline.

Presented by the Santa Rosa Island Authority, Cinemas in the Sand also brings free family movies to the coast on the second Friday night of May (“Moana 2”), August (“Shrek”), September (“Toy Story”) and October (“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”).

Moviegoers are encouraged to bring blankets, low chairs and picnic baskets. Events are subject to cancellation for inclement weather.

Cinemas in the Sand is sponsored by Postcard Properties, FL and Postcard Realty, two sister companies providing a full suite of real estate services, including sales, property management and vacation rentals, across the Florida Panhandle.
