Jackson’s Steakhouse will hold its 16th annual “Vive la France” Wine and Food Tasting at 5:50 p.m. Monday, July 14, Bastille Day, the French national holiday commemorating a pivotal moment in the French Revolution: the storming of Paris’ Bastille prison in 1789.
Jean Pierre N’Dione has selected four French wines to pair with a five-course menu created by Chef Irv Miller. The evening offers a culinary tour of France, combining regional dishes with wines from Burgundy, the Loire Valley and Bordeaux.
The five courses:
• Escargots Bourguignonne, snails served in a puff pastry bouchée with garlic, shallots, parsley and white Burgundy butter sauce. Paired with Albert Bichot, Crémant de Bourgogne, Brut Réserve, Burgundy, NV.
• Artichauts à Longue Tige, crispy long-stemmed artichokes, mesclun greens and lemon-tarragon vinaigrette. Served with Joseph Mellot “Sincerité” Sauvignon Blanc, Loire Valley, 2023.
• Bouillabaisse, showcasing Gulf Coast seafood in saffron broth with little-neck clams, blue crab, fresh catch, Atlantic blue-gold mussels and rouille. Paired with Horizon De Bichot, Pinot Noir, Burgundy, 2022.
• Tournedos Sautés aux Champignons, butter-and-herb-sautéed beef medallions with local wild mushrooms and a Madeira demi-glace reduction sauce. Paired with Domaine Clarence Dillon, “Clarendelle” Bordeaux Rouge, Bordeaux, 2022.
• A dessert of strawberries and figs served with whipped feta cheese, local honey, balsamic-roasted strawberries, fresh mint and extra-virgin olive oil.
The cost is $75, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required. Call 850-469-9898, or visit www.jacksonsrestaurant.com.
